Grant Thornton’s skill-development programs win gold and silver awards from Brandon Hall Group™

CHICAGO — Grant Thornton LLP, one of America’s largest audit, tax and advisory firms, was recognized by the 2023 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards™ for several of the firm’s skills development programs. The firm earned a gold award in the “Best Program for Upskilling Employees” category for its digital badging program and Career Compass skills framework and a silver award in the “Best Blended Learning Program” category for its Manager Development Program.

“This recognition from the Brandon Hall Group shows that our skills development programs are integral to our client-centric, people-focused strategy,” said Jeanna Shapiro, Grant Thornton’s chief people officer. “Our industry badging, professional skills and other learning programs equip our professionals to speak our clients’ language and solve their toughest challenges in every industry and market we serve — and across all our solutions.”

Each of the firm’s award-winning programs empower Grant Thornton professionals in unique ways. The Career Compass framework provides a shared skills taxonomy, while digital badging provides curated learning pathways to upskill and validate knowledge and skill application.

Further, the Manager Development Program is a one-year leadership development academy for all newly promoted managers across the firm. The program helps managers successfully transition to their new role by engaging them with leaders, creating peer-to-peer networks and building essential professional skills for their new role.

“Empowering our new managers with ample skills, support and resources is essential to our success as a firm,” said Amy Happ, Grant Thornton’s director of Leadership Development and Learning Innovation. “The Manager Development Program gives our young leaders a community of peers and mentors ready to invest in their talents, ultimately creating a supportive community where the next generation of professional services leaders can learn, empower and uplift one another.”

Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards™ are the longest-running honors in Human Capital Management (HCM), and its 2023 honorees were selected by a panel of veteran, independent senior industry experts. When judging the contenders, the panel focused on criteria like program design, functionality, innovation, measurable benefits, and how effectively the program responds to a need. Award winners will be honored at Brandon Hall Group's HCM Excellence Conference, February 13-15, 2024, at the Hilton West Palm Beach.
