Jamie Yesnowitz

 

 

 

Executive summary



Jamie Yesnowitz is a Partner serving as the State and Local Tax (SALT) leader within Grant Thornton’s Washington National Tax Office. In this role, he serves as a national technical expert for Grant Thornton’s SALT practice, devoting significant time to complex client matters. He follows current developments and hot topics in the SALT world, including state corporate income and sales tax legislation and policy, state income tax conformity to federal income tax provisions, and state corporate income tax apportionment rules and filing methods.

 

Jamie has twenty-seven years of broad-based SALT controversy and consulting experience at the national and practice office levels in large public accounting firms in Washington, DC and New York. Prior to entering the field of public accounting, Jamie practiced law as a corporate and securities attorney in New York.

 

 

 

Professional qualifications and memberships

 

Jamie is licensed as an attorney in the District of Columbia, New York, and Massachusetts. In addition, Jamie is a member of the American Bar Association, U.S. Supreme Court Bar Association, and the District of Columbia Bar Association, in which he served as Chair of the Association’s SALT Committee. Jamie has served as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Tax Executive Committee, is a past Chair of the AICPA SALT Technical Resource Panel, and is a recipient of the AICPA’s 2020 Jonathan Horn Distinguished Service Award. He is currently serving on SALT advisory boards developed by Bloomberg, the District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue, the Villanova University Law School, and the New York University (NYU) School of Continuing Professional Studies. He also served as co-chair of the 2024 and 2025 NYU SALT Institute.

 

 

 

Presentations and publications

 

Jamie regularly presents to national and regional audiences, covering a wide variety of SALT topics. In addition, he has authored numerous articles and has been frequently quoted in national tax and business publications.
