Tracey is a Managing Director in Grant Thornton’s Strategic Federal Tax Services (SFTS) practice, a dedicated team of experienced tax professionals who focus on certain areas of federal tax law where appropriate planning can help clients achieve significant savings.  Tracey has the capabilities to provide valuable SFTS advice to help clients select, implement and manage appropriate tax strategies.   

 

 

 

Experience

 

Tracey has more than twelve years of experience in tax advisory services for public and privately held clients.  She provides services related to inventory (UNICAP), the research and development tax credit, Section 174, tangible property regulations (repairs), fixed assets, tax accounting methods, and other federal, state, and international tax matters. Tracey’s experience prior joining Grant Thornton’s SFTS practice also includes three years of mergers & acquisitions tax consulting (buy-side and sell-side tax due diligence, as well as tax structure modeling).

 

Tracey’s project experiences include: performing inventory analysis projects, including implementation of the final UNICAP regulations; conducting repair and maintenance analysis to determine proper classification of costs incurred in acquiring, maintaining and improving tangible property; reviewing and helping clients adopt correct and advantageous accounting methods; cost segregation analysis for property reclassification; and assisting clients with the calculation, documentation and substantiation of R&D tax credits and Section 174 amounts.

Tracey has served a wide variety of industries and clients, including those in the software, financial services, private equity, engineering, manufacturing, oil and gas, chemical, transportation, retail, healthcare and medical device industries.

 

 

 

Professional qualifications and memberships

 

Tracey holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree in Information and Operations Management from Texas A&M University (Cum Laude), as well as a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from South Texas College of Law.  Tracey is a licensed Attorney in Texas.
