Executive summary

 

Meredith Vogel serves as the national managing principal of Global Client Services at Grant Thornton Advisors LLC, the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd (GTIL). Vogel is responsible for driving the U.S. firm’s global initiatives and strategy and is a member of the firm’s National Leadership Team. She works with other GTIL member firms around the world to align and enhance client service strategies and capabilities. In addition to her U.S. firm role, she also serves on the Member Firm Matters Committee of GTIL’s Board of Governors.

Vogel has over 24 years of experience in public accounting and is skilled in providing audit and accounting services, as well as reviewing and improving internal control systems for clients. Throughout her career, she has worked with both public and private companies in the manufacturing, distribution and transportation industries.

Prior to her current role, Vogel served as the global head of Assurance Technology at GTIL. In this position, she was responsible for the development and adoption of Grant Thornton’s proprietary assurance platform, which is used for audit and other assurance engagements on a global scale. She also defined and executed the strategic priorities of the network’s assurance technology, including the development roadmap of core technologies and digital audit innovations.

From 2009 to 2011, Vogel completed a part-time staff fellowship at the Financial Accounting Foundation, supporting the Blue-Ribbon Panel on Standard Setting for Private Companies. During this time, she was the co-author of the Blue-Ribbon’s final report. Vogel also completed a rotation in the firm’s National Audit Training and Knowledge Resources Group, developing technical audit training programs, drafting firm bulletins and other communications, and assisting on efficiency and effectiveness projects.

In 2013, Vogel was named a “Woman to Watch” by the Illinois CPA Society in the Emerging Leader category.

Community involvement

  • Vogel is a member and prior chair of the Illinois CPA Society’s Scholarship Committee and a member of the organization’s Women’s Executive Committee. She also volunteers for several non-profit organizations, including Feed My Starving Children and Project Purple, which aims to find a cure for pancreatic cancer and improve the lives of those affected. Vogel is involved with the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic and is a former vice president of the Chiefs Hockey Club, a local youth ice hockey program.

  • Vogel holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Illinois.
