Nicholas C. Saracco

Executive summary

Nick is a Partner in the Cyber & Risk Advisory Services practice with more than 20 years of experience in internal audit and controls advisory. Nick has primarily focused on governance, risk and compliance services, performing co-sourced and outsourced internal audits, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) readiness assessments and consulting, IPO Readiness, risk assessments, compliance audits, third-party auditor reviews, internal audit department assessments and transformation, IT application controls (ITAC) reviews, quality assurance reviews (QAR), and restatement consulting.

In addition, Nick has provided process improvement consulting, focusing on the key risks and controls within an end-to-end process, including an assessment of people, process and technology. These services have most often been performed in conjunction with a process redesign involving a system upgrade or implementation.

Experience

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Nick was a Manager for a global business consulting and advisory firm, performing internal audits, SOX readiness services, and system integrations. Nick’s internal audit experience included managing and executing financial, operational, compliance, and performance audits.

Industry experience

Nick works with a mix of public and private companies – both global and domestic – primarily in the manufacturing / consumer and industrial products (“CIP”), life sciences, and technology industries. He has also served clients across healthcare, higher education, retail, not for profit, insurance, and financial services industries throughout his career. 

Professional qualifications and memberships

Nick is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and the former President of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) – Chicago Chapter. He currently serves as an Executive Advisor to the IIA Chicago Board and is a Board of Trustee member for the IIA’s Internal Audit Foundation.

Education

Nick received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Notre Dame. He also holds a supplemental major in Computer Applications from the University of Notre Dame.
