Shweta Desai is an experienced Audit & Assurance partner specializing in the financial services industry and is a Board Member of the Grant Thornton LLP Partnership Board.

She has extensive experience working with a wide range of clients in the financial services industry and is consistently recognized for leading effective and efficient audits as well as being a critical member of the audit team. Her technical expertise, strong project management capabilities, hands-on client service and collaborative approach have all contributed to building and sustaining strong client relationships over time. She has significant hands-on experience with internal control testing for public companies. 

Shweta focuses on both public and privately held financial services clients, including mortgage REITs, specialty lenders, FinTech companies, asset managers, broker-dealers and investment advisors. She provides significant technical capabilities in auditing under PCAOB, U.S. GAAP, and international standards. Additionally, she has worked on complex U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and SEC reporting matters — as well as IPO, secondary debt and equity offerings, private placements, and mergers and acquisitions.

She also has broad experience with technical accounting matters related to investments, loans, valuations, business combinations, stock-based compensation, and securitizations, amongst other areas.

In addition to her client-facing work, Shweta leads shared services integration for the West Region and is actively involved with the firm’s diversity and inclusion programs.
