Beatrix Bernauer is a principal in the Risk, Regulatory and Legal Affairs group. Bernauer is responsible for legal matters related to risk management, litigation management, regulatory and ethical compliance and complex transactions. She defends the firm and its personnel in accounting malpractice litigation and is the lead legal adviser to the audit and assurance service line on contract issues. Bernauer counsels management on firm governance issues, partnership agreement issues and partner matters. She advises the firm on regulatory matters, serves as privacy officer for the firm and participates in decisions regarding firm-wide compliance issues. She is also the lead legal adviser in all merger and acquisition transactions for the firm, drafting and negotiating deal documentation, and assisting business teams with due diligence and post-closing legal issues.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Bernauer worked in the legal departments of Arthur Andersen and Andersen Worldwide.
