Grant Thornton Advisors joins the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association

MISA membership reflects Grant Thornton Advisors’ expanding collaboration with Microsoft to help organizations strengthen cyber resilience and govern AI responsibly

CHICAGO — Grant Thornton Advisors LLC (Grant Thornton Advisors) today announced it has become a member of the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association (MISA), an ecosystem of leading security software development companies and services partners that integrate with Microsoft Security. Through MISA, Grant Thornton Advisors combines its proprietary IP and cybersecurity experience with Microsoft’s AI-powered security solutions, including Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Entra, to help organizations strengthen cyber resilience and stay ahead of evolving threats.

Grant Thornton Advisors earned MISA membership based on its Microsoft Purview AI Readiness offering and Microsoft Sentinel Health Check Agent — solutions that provide organizations with the tools to strengthen cyber resilience, improve data governance and responsibly scale AI adoption.

Through its Microsoft Purview AI Readiness offering, Grant Thornton Advisors’ clients can establish the data security, compliance and governance foundations needed to support enterprise AI initiatives. The firm’s solution leverages Microsoft Purview capabilities, including data discovery, classification, labeling, data loss prevention and policy enforcement, to assist organizations in understanding, protecting and governing sensitive information as AI usage expands.

The firm's Sentinel Health Check Agent complements those capabilities by helping organizations optimize the performance and effectiveness of Microsoft Sentinel environments. The AI-powered solution continuously evaluates log ingestion, configurations, detections and operational health, providing healthy habits during busy times, actionable recommendations that allow security teams to identify issues faster, improve visibility and optimize security operations.

Grant Thornton Advisors also provides Microsoft Agent 365 readiness and deployment, designed to help organizations securely manage and scale autonomous AI agents across the enterprise. The offering gives organizations a structured approach to establishing governance frameworks, strengthening identity and access controls, defining agent boundaries and compliance requirements, and reducing risks such as unauthorized access, prompt injection and data exfiltration. Through a centralized approach to AI agent governance, organizations can pursue innovation while maintaining security, oversight and regulatory compliance.

"Organizations today face a dual challenge: protecting an increasingly complex digital environment while establishing the governance and controls needed to safely scale AI," said Tony Buffomante, national managing partner of Cyber & Risk services at Grant Thornton Advisors LLC. "As AI adoption accelerates, organizations need a connected approach to cybersecurity, data governance and risk management. Joining MISA reflects our commitment to helping clients strengthen cyber resilience, establish trusted foundations for AI and unlock greater value from their technology investments."

“The Microsoft Intelligent Security Association has grown into a vibrant ecosystem comprised of the most reliable and trusted security vendors across the globe,” said Parri Munsell, Sr Director, Security Partner Marketing. “Our members, like Grant Thornton Advisors, share Microsoft’s commitment to collaboration within the cybersecurity community to improve our customers’ ability to predict, detect, and respond to security threats faster.”

Established in 2018 to bring together Microsoft leaders and security vendors, MISA focuses on collaborating to combat security threats and create a safer environment for all. Its mission is to provide intelligent, industry-leading security solutions that work together to help protect organizations at the speed and scale of AI in an ever-increasing threat landscape.
