Grant Thornton’s Cathy Hyodo and Marla Hummel named among “Top 100 Accountants” by the Los Angeles Business Journal

CHICAGO — Cathy Hyodo, Grant Thronton’s market managing partner for the Greater Southwest region, and Marla Hummel, Audit Services partner and the West region’s not-for-profit and higher education practice leader, have been named “Top 100 Accountants” by the Los Angeles Business Journal (LABJ).

Presented annually by the LABJ in partnership with CalCPA, the “Top 100 Accountants” award honors accounting professionals who demonstrate outstanding technical expertise, leadership and commitment to the profession.

This year’s recognition marks Hyodo’s fifth consecutive time being named to the “Top 100 Accountants” list, reflecting her sustained leadership and influence within the Los Angeles accounting community. She leads hundreds of professionals across one of the firm’s most dynamic markets and is widely recognized for her strategic leadership, extensive expertise in the technology sector and long‑standing commitment to mentorship and inclusion.

Hummel brings more than 30 years of experience serving mission‑driven organizations. Her leadership spans the Western region and beyond, where she is known as a trusted advisor who helps clients navigate complexity, interpret emerging guidance and make thoughtful, long‑term decisions.

“Cathy and Marla are highly respected leaders whose experience, judgment and commitment to their clients and teams continue to shape our firm in meaningful ways,” said Tony Perazzo, regional managing partner for the West region and managing partner for Grant Thornton’s Greater Bay Area offices. “Their continued recognition by the Los Angeles Business Journal reflects not only their individual contributions, but also the strong culture and depth of talent we’re building across the region. We’re proud to see their impact recognized.”

Grant Thornton and its professionals have a strong history of recognition from the LABJ, reflecting the firm’s continued growth and leadership in the region. In recent years, firm leaders have been recognized through the publication’s “Top 100 Accountants” list and “Women of Influence” awards, including both Hyodo and Hummel.
