Grant Thornton Advisors expands healthcare technology expertise and capabilities

Team from Impulse Strategic Solutions has joined firm’s AI, Data and Technology practice

CHICAGO — Grant Thornton Advisors LLC (Grant Thornton Advisors) today announced that the team from Impulse Strategic Solutions, a leading healthcare IT consulting firm, has joined Grant Thornton Advisors’ AI, Data and Technology practice, strengthening its Tech Strategy Solutions offering.

Impulse built and managed IT solutions that power healthcare from enterprise health systems to rural community hospitals. The firm, which was headquartered in Houston, was founded in 2014 by CEO Scott Collins and Chief Operation Officer Shawn Boorom. These founders have decades of experience in the industry, and aim to provide execution, counsel and service that strengthens staff and patient experiences.

The incoming team is helping Grant Thornton Advisors expand its capabilities in a fast-growing industry. Last year, The Business Research Company projected the healthcare IT consulting market will grow from $76 billion in 2025 to $91 billion in 2026, an almost 20% increase.

“Grant Thornton Advisors is expanding our capabilities and striving to provide tailored expertise for our clients,” said Tom Puthiyamadam, managing partner of Advisory Services for Grant Thornton Advisors LLC. “We're eager to work with the team coming from Impulse to expand these capabilities as consolidation, regulation and market demand impact the healthcare landscape.”

Current Grant Thornton Advisors clients will gain access to leading industry practitioners as the firm works to expand its capabilities.

“Our mission has always gone beyond technology or advisory services; it's about improving patient care,” said Scott Collins, a partner at Grant Thornton Advisors LLC and former Impulse CEO. “Joining Grant Thornton Advisors ensures we can bring our same relationship-driven approach to a broader range of health systems from enterprise hospitals to rural community health.”

The move comes as Grant Thornton Advisors has acquired several companies in the past year, brought in a range of new talent, promoted internal partners, and expanded its capabilities and expertise — all with the goal of best serving the middle market.
