Grant Thornton’s Cathy Hyodo wins dual honors from the Los Angeles Business Journal

Hyodo, the firm’s leader in the LA market, has been recognized as a Top 100 Accountant and a Woman of Influence

LOS ANGELES — Cathy Hyodo, Grant Thornton’s market managing partner in Los Angeles, has been named a Los Angeles Business Journal Woman of Influence and Top 100 Accountant for the third year in a row. The dual honors continue a strong pattern of recognition for the firm’s top leader in LA: She has also been named to the business journal’s prestigious “LA500” list five years in a row.

“Anytime I am fortunate enough to be recognized with awards like these, I know it’s the result of our Grant Thornton team’s tireless, high-quality work in LA,” Hyodo said.  “This firm has been my professional home for nearly 30 years, and each year, we provide even more value for the clients we serve in industries as diverse as technology, entertainment, manufacturing, asset management and healthcare. I’m grateful to be a part of a growing team in the most exciting business community in the country.”

As a market managing partner, Hyodo is responsible for leading hundreds of staff members and helping them provide personalized audit, tax and advisory services to the firm’s clients. Hyodo herself has decades of experience in the digital media, e-commerce, technology and software industries. She has helped technology start-ups and global technology companies grow their businesses and distinguish themselves in an endlessly competitive marketplace.

Tony Perazzo, the managing partner of Grant Thornton’s West region, says Hyodo has been an instrumental part of the firm’s growth on the West Coast and nationwide.

“Cathy has been serving clients at the forefront of every change and innovation the technology industry has seen over the last 30 years — and she knows how to build effective teams that deliver unparalleled results,” said Perazzo. “Just as important, she has a talent for building the authentic relationships businesses need more than ever. Through close mentorship, she has helped her many incredible LA teammates develop that same talent.”

Outside of work, Hyodo is active in industry associations throughout California. She served on the board of the California Association of Certified Public Accountants, the same organization that awarded her a “Woman to Watch” award in 2010. She currently sits on the Corporate Advisory Board of the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California, her alma mater, where she is actively involved in advising and shaping programs that develop graduates ready to make an immediate impact.
