Grant Thornton names Dennis Morrone to lead Not-for-Profit and Higher Education practices

CHICAGO — Grant Thornton LLP has named Dennis Morrone as its national managing partner for the firm’s Not-for-Profit and Higher Education practices, effective August 1, 2020. He succeeds Mark Oster, who will retire at the end of this fiscal year in accordance with Grant Thornton’s mandatory age-based retirement policy.

Morrone previously served as the national partner-in-charge of Audit Services in the Not-for-Profit and Higher Education practices at Grant Thornton. Prior to joining the firm 18 years ago, Morrone was part of Arthur Andersen’s Metro New York Not-for-Profit practice.

“This year’s historic disruptions have dramatically impacted the not-for-profit and higher education spaces,” said Brad Preber, CEO of Grant Thornton. “Dennis’s excellent leadership and client-service skills will help our clients overcome today’s exigent challenges, while also managing the long-standing trends that require shrewd decision making.”

Morrone is a sitting member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board’s Not-for-Profit Advisory Committee. He has developed and taught numerous courses on not-for-profit accounting and compliance topics, has been a prolific presenter in various industry forums and has written extensively for Grant Thornton’s not-for-profit industry letters and many other industry publications.

Morrone received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Villanova University. He is a certified public accountant in New Jersey, New York and Washington, D.C. — and he is a member of the AICPA.
