But I enjoyed the work more than I expected, especially the challenge of working through complex accounting questions along the way, leaders recognized strengths in me that I was still discovering for myself and encouraged me to explore a career path I hadn’t considered.

I get to be a student and a teacher

Before joining the firm, I tutored accounting students and learned how much a great teacher can change the way someone understands a difficulty. I still bring that mindset to my work today. I get to learn something new, work through it and then turn around and help someone else understand it. That cycle of learning and sharing is one of my favorite parts of my career.

I retired from comedy...

after winning a stand-up competition. My mom and grandfather were there to see it, so I figured I should leave on a high note.

My taste is unpredictable.

Give me a horror movie to watch and a fantasy romance novel to read. And who says you can’t wear a leather jacket in the office?

My perfect weekend...

is staying close to home with my partner and our cats, watching movies, reading or playing video games.

My alternate career...

would be reality TV. Getting paid to be myself sounds right.
