I’m betting on my career — and myself

My story of unexpectations, redefined

Risk is rewarded at Grant Thornton

My interest in accounting sparked during my undergraduate years at Loyola University Chicago. I took a few courses and something just clicked, so I dove in headfirst and went on to complete bachelor’s and master’s degrees. When it came time to pursue a full-time role, I interviewed with some safe options — but I wanted something that took me off a predictable path: where I could take risks, be myself and play an active role in clients’ wins. Here, I found people didn’t just talk about hands-on experiences and flexibility — they walked the walk. Since then, I’ve experienced this is anything but cookie-cutter accounting.

“Be eager to work outside your comfort zone. If I hadn't trusted my mentors and moved cross-country, I wouldn't have gained experiences that define my career today. Helping build our West Coast transaction advisory practice has brought me so many relationships and opportunities.”
