The IRS on Dec. 29 issued final regulations (T.D. 9829) on electing out of the centralized partnership audit regime instituted by the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015 (BBA), ruling that partnerships that have disregarded entities as partners would not be able to elect out of the BBA.
IRS issues annual guidance on obtaining private letter rulings

IRS announces start of filing season

The IRS on Jan. 4 announced that the 2018 return filing season for individuals would begin on Jan. 29. While both electronic and paper returns would begin to be accepted by the IRS on Jan. 29, the IRS will not process paper returns until mid-February, the IRS stated in a release.
