Brian is an audit partner in the Tulsa office of Grant Thornton. Brian has over 20 years of audit experience serving clients in the Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas marketplaces. Brian has served public and privately held clients in the energy, manufacturing, transportation, and service business. He has served some of Grant Thornton’s largest and most active multi-location public companies, as well as several smaller, privately-held companies, backed by some of the largest private equity firms in the region.

Brian also has significant transaction-related experience, working on acquisitions and securities offerings totalling over $7 billion. Brian was the lead audit partner for a large initial public offering of a Master Limited Partnership and has been involved with other initial public offerings and dozens of secondary debt and equity offerings.

From October 2012 through January 2016, Brian was the Vice President & Chief Accounting Officer for Samson Resources Corporation, a privately held upstream oil and gas company acquired by KKR for $7.2 billion in December 2011. While at Samson, Brian lead a 125 person accounting team through a comprehensive ERP system implementation, registered $2.3 billion of senior notes with the SEC, and transitioned a privately held organization to a public reporting, SOX compliant enterprise. Brian’s tenure as a senior executive of a multi-billion dollar company during troubled industry conditions provided him unique insight into challenges faced by corporate executive teams including governance matters, risk assessments, process improvement opportunities, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, financial reporting practices and resource utilization.
