Katie Erkkila

Executive summary

Katie is a partner and Professional Practice Director (PPD) in the Midwest region.  As PPD, Katie is responsible for risk management and implementing and monitoring the firm’s system of quality control primarily for assurance services.  She works directly with engagement teams and their clients in the identification and resolution of accounting, auditing, and regulatory matters.  Katie has extensive experience supporting engagement teams in planning and executing integrated audits and supporting engagement teams through the regulatory inspection process.

Experience

Katie has more than twenty years of accounting and auditing experience and has been with Grant Thornton for substantially all her career.  In addition to working in the Chicago audit practice, Katie completed a short-term rotation in the firm’s Audit Risk Management group, which is responsible for the firm’s internal inspection program, regulatory inspections and root cause evaluation program. Katie also spent two years working for a Chicago based Fortune 500 public company managing their Sarbanes-Oxley implementation.
