Executive summary


Saylor joined Grant Thornton’s Phoenix office in January 2013. Prior to joining the firm, he spent nearly ten years in the Charlotte and Phoenix SALT groups of two Big 4 firms and almost five years with CliftonLarsonAllen. During his previous tenure and currently with Grant Thornton, Saylor regularly serves clients from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. Currently, Saylor is the State & Local Tax practice leader for the Desert Mountain West territory. In this role, Saylor is responsible for overseeing the pursuit and delivery of SALT services – income and franchise taxes, indirect taxes, and property taxes and incentives – within the territory. In addition to SALT, Saylor previously provided corporate and individual clients with tax guidance and planning related to federal matters, including the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, and in federal and state audit matters.

Saylor has significant multistate income and franchise tax and indirect tax experience serving both publicly-held C corporations as well as privately-held S corporations, partnerships, and individuals. In addition to serving clients on a wide range of multistate tax matters, Saylor has been a regular lecturer on various multistate tax topics, including planning opportunities and compliance issues for C corporations, partnerships, S corporations, and individuals. Saylor previously was named the West Region technical expert for the Texas Gross Margins Tax for a Big 4 firm. He also was a Pacific Southwest regional leader responsible for the pursuit, design, review and implementation of Section 199 projects as well as a C corporation core competency leader for another Big 4 firm.
