In our comment letter, we let the PCAOB know that we generally support the premise of the Board’s Proposals Regarding False or Misleading Statements Concerning PCAOB Registration and Oversight and Constructive Requests to Withdraw from Registration, and appreciate its efforts to clarify which engagements are within the Board’s oversight purview. We believe that it is in the public’s best interest for the PCAOB to hold accountable any firms that mischaracterize their registration status. However, we foresee some potential operational challenges and/or unintended consequences with some of the proposed changes, which we outline in our letter.
