Ed Safdie has more than 30 years of experience in the Federal Government and served as a VA Chief Biomedical Engineer; Chief Engineer; Chief Corporate Facility Planner; VHA Director of Healthcare Engineering; Associate Medical Center Director; VBA Director of Administration and Facilities; VBA Director, Office of Management; and Director, Programs and Plans, Office of Construction and Facilities Management. His private sector work experience includes Consulting Engineer, Biomedical Engineering, and serving as an expert witness in medical device product liability.

 

Mr. Safdie's areas of functional expertise are Healthcare Engineering, Facility Maintenance, Asset Management, Healthcare Administration, Construction Capital Planning and Management, and Forensic Engineering. His Grant Thornton client work includes GSA Real Property Asset Management, DHS Real Property IT Systems Requirements Development; DHS Capital Construction Planning and University of Chicago asset management requirements development. He received an MS in Biomedical Engineering from Sacramento State University and BS in Electronic Engineering from University of California, Davis.

 

He is a registered Professional Engineer (Electrical) and ISO A55K Certified. He received a Certificate of Commendation from the Vice Admiral, Commander of the Joint Task Force, National Capital Regional Medical (Base Realignment and Closure of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center); Certificate of Appreciation from the Secretary, Department of Veterans Affairs (Selfless and extraordinary efforts, Hurricane Season Response) and the VA Administrator's National EEO Award.
