Aurpon Bhattacharya is a Principal in Public Sector Advisory practice at Grant Thornton. He leads the firm’s Foundational Analytics and Technology Business Management practices.

Mr. Bhattacharya has over 13 years of progressive experience in management consulting. This includes solving complex business problems with a variety of analytical tools and applications. Mr. Bhattacharya has led many client engagements in the areas of data driven decision making, costing, budgeting and performance management to reflect the full cost of products and services as well as in portfolio management, program management, and project management.

As a leader in the Public Sector Decision Analytics (DA) team, Mr. Bhattacharya has created and developed the Foundational Analytics sub-service line, leading to a standardized data visualization approach and training over 500 resources across GT. Under his leadership, over 40 repeatable use cases have been developed, enabling several accounts in providing innovative client solutions which have been marketed through strategic alliance channels and led to the 2018 Innovative Firm of the Year Award by Tableau Software.

Mr. Bhattacharya has developed the first ever government wide Working Capital Fund Managers Working Group in collaboration with the Congressionally chartered National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) to provide federal CFOs and Working Capital managers a common platform to resolve critical issues.

Mr. Bhattacharya has established one of the nation’s first multidisciplinary industry-academic programs at Indiana University to establish the Grant Thornton Institute for Data Exploration and Risk Assessment. This is a 3 year program that leverages disruptive technology and unlock innovation in the market by integrating leading edge technology with business and policy.

Mr. Bhattacharya received the Public Sector Annual Consultant’s Choice Award, 2014, recognizing his role as sought out mentor, ability to attract and retain talent and improving the experience of staff.

He was also selected as one of five GTUS Senior Managers in the highly competitive annual leadership development program for Grant Thornton International’s Annual Global Advanced Manager Programme (AMP), 2017.
