Catie is a Tax Managing Director in Grant Thornton’s Dallas office, having spent over 13 years serving clients across both the East and Central regions in the Strategic Federal Tax Services (SFTS) Practice.
Catie has a broad Federal tax background with a primary focus on Federal and State Research & Development (R&D) tax credits, Section 263A UNICAP methods, revenue recognition, and fixed asset reviews. She has over 13 years of public accounting experience and has worked with a wide-array of industry groups. While serving on the National R&D Tax Credit leadership team, she is also a key member on GT’s tax innovation team that focuses on utilizing and identifying technology to improve operations. Currently, she is in charge of the advancing our R&D technology solutions aimed to differentiate GT in the market.
Catie is a mother to 3 beautiful children and married to Patrick Ely. Catie was awarded as Grant Thornton’s 2018 Working Mother of the Year, as well as internal recognition for her focus on opportunities to propel the local community forward by leading the way in volunteerism and outreach, and is working towards earning a black belt in Taekwondo. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Georgia State University and her Master’s degree in Accountancy from Kennesaw State University.
