Dr. David F. Andrade

 

 

 

Executive summary


David F. Andrade, PhD is a Transfer Pricing Managing Director for Grant Thornton’s West Region and is based in Southern California. Dr. Andrade is a recognized subject-matter expert in transfer pricing (TP) economics, intellectual property (IP) economic analysis, and finance/valuations with over 25 years of combined consulting and teaching experience as a financial economist. He has deep and broad experience in transfer pricing and tax valuations for international tax.

Dr. Andrade has significant experience leading TP and valuation project teams and is often sought after by tax authorities to provide independent expert advice and testimony in tax controversies ranging from audits to appeals to tax court. Dr. Andrade has testified in U.S. courts as a valuation expert and advises CFOs and tax executives of multinationals as they navigate through international expansions.

Dr. Andrade is a former academic professor with approximately 10 years of teaching experience. He taught transfer pricing and IP economic analysis LLM graduate courses at the University of Washington (UW) as an Assistant Professor faculty member of the UW Law School. Prior to that he taught economics, finance, and investment valuation courses at the UW Business School and other universities.

Dr. Andrade’s 25 years of teaching, advising and consulting is being showcased in his forthcoming pricing book (in progress) that is tentatively entitled Modern Price Theory/Applications: for the Real World. This book takes a deep dive into the origin and workings of “transfer prices” and “IP licensing royalties” and provides one of the most thorough quantitative presentations of the economic foundations of these subjects currently available.

In addition to having a quantitative background in economics/finance, Dr. Andrade is also a data scientist / computer programmer / econometrician. He earned his PhD in economics from the University of California in 1997.
