Gregory Payne

Executive summary

Greg Payne is Grant Thornton’s market managing partner in Kansas City. In this role, he leads a talented team of audit and assurance, tax and advisory professionals who provide personalized, high-quality service to clients in all industries. He also leads the firm’s services in Omaha and Iowa. Prior to this role, Greg served as the firm’s Audit practice leader in Kansas City. He has decades of experience helping the leaders of public and private entities strengthen their strategies and drive growth. He has led IPOs and integrated audits, and his vast industry knowledge covers sectors as diverse as manufacturing, energy, construction and services.

A devoted member of the Kansas City community, Greg is an alumni member of the Chamber of Commerce’s Centurions program and a member of the advisory council for the accounting program at the University of Kansas. He previously served as the treasurer and a member of the board of directors for Community LINC, the city’s largest provider of homelessness services. He currently serves as the treasurer and board member of The Don Bosco Centers.

Greg is a certified public accountant in Kansas and Missouri, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting with a concentration in communications from the University of Kansas.
