Jim Marks is a managing director with over 20 years of progressive experience in the asset management tax arena. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Marks was a director at Deloitte, and served as the tax lead partner for over 180 mutual funds, 60 partnerships and several offshore nonregistered investment vehicles. He worked for Fidelity Investments as a tax director and for PricewaterhouseCoopers as a tax manager. Marks has experience working with mutual funds, investment partnerships (hedge funds), venture capital partnerships, master/feeder structures, common trust funds, exchange traded funds, master limited partnerships, business development companies and limited liability companies. Marks also has extensive experience assisting clients in setting up offshore tax structures such as CFCs, blocker corporations, PFICs and QEFs. Marks frequently consults with clients regarding international tax issues.
