Dr. JT Kostman is a Data Scientist, Mathematician, and Psychologist. A prolific author, teacher and speaker, JT has been recognized by his peers, the press, and professional associations as one of the world's leading experts in applied artificial intelligence and cognitive computing.
JT has helped combat terrorism for U.S. Intelligence Agencies, tracked criminal networks for the FBI, advised on analytic strategies for the Department of Defense, and led social media analysis for the 2012 Obama Campaign. In the corporate sector, he served as Chief Data Officer and a member of the executive committee for Time Inc., Chief Data Scientist for Samsung, and has served on several Boards and has guided hundreds of millions of dollars of investment decisions.
Dr. Kostman has held teaching positions focused on leadership, strategy, and organizational change in the MBA/MS programs at City University of New York, Baruch College; Manhattanville College; Rutgers University; and University of Connecticut, Storrs. He is the IBM Think Leader for 2016 and has been awarded several National Science Foundation fellowships and academic and professional honors.
Prior to attending graduate school, JT served as a paramedic, police officer, deep-sea rescue diver, and as team leader of an elite scout/sniper reconnaissance team with the U.S. Army Special Forces. He is a decorated disabled veteran.
Dr. Kostman leads the Applied Artificial Intelligence and Frontier Technologies Practice at Grant Thornton, where he and his team work with clients to develop cost-effective business solutions that leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT, blockchain and advanced analytic solutions and services.
