Debra Hahn is a managing director in the National Professional Standards Group. She provides guidance on issues affecting the firm’s independence, particularly in relation to nonaudit services and business relationships in connection with our audit clients. Hahn also provides technical assistance and analysis of independence standards of various regulatory bodies, including the SEC, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, the AICPA, the Government Accountability Office, the U.S. Department of Labor and the International Federation of Accountants. She assists in the preparation of firmwide bulletins, independence training and was instrumental in developing the firm protocol for circulating independence conflict checks.
Hahn has more than 18 years of diversified public accounting experience. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, she was a technical manager in the AICPA’s Professional Ethics Division, investigating and providing recommendations on violations of the AICPA’s Code of Professional Conduct before the Technical Standards Subcommittee and coordinating the AICPA’s enforcement activities with the various state societies of certified public accountants.
