Julie is a partner in Partnership Tax Services with Grant Thornton’s Chicago office. She focuses on partnership compliance and consulting services and has provided tax services to a variety of clients over her nearly 20 years of public accounting experience.
Julie has consulted with clients on a multitude of areas including tax compliance for partnership and S-corporations, partnership capital account maintenance (IRC §704(b) capital and tax capital), transaction tax planning, and tax attribute planning. Clients she has served are multi-national and multi-state companies, operating in manufacturing, technology, professional services, and private-equity-backed portfolio companies. She also serves several multi-generational family owned businesses and Family Offices.
In her role as Midwest Partnership Tax Services leader, she manages the hiring, succession, and annual compensation review for her team, as well as overseeing their technical development, utilization, and execution of the Partnership Services strategy within the Midwest market.
From 2012 through 2014, Julie served as Chief of Staff to the CEO of the U.S. firm. This two-year appointment afforded invaluable insight into the interworking of the firm, including operational matters, leadership transition, and development of business acumen. In addition, she gained further experience serving partnerships including insights regarding the balance of ownership, governance, and executive management. In addition, Julie gained exposure in to the development and execution of strategy, business planning, and budgeting by working for the firm’s Senior Leadership Team, Partnership Board, and Operating Committee on a regular basis.
