Liz Askey is a Managing Director in Grant Thornton’s Tax Practice Policy & Quality group.
Liz has nearly 27 years of experience in assisting clients with both preventing and resolving complex tax controversies. She has represented clients before the IRS Examination and Appeals Divisions, in litigation, in ruling requests before the IRS, and in policy matters (both regulatory and legislative), before the US Department of the Treasury and the Congressional tax-writing committees.
Liz consults on and assists with matters of tax and regulatory policy, Treasury and IRS guidance, and IRS audits and Appeals, including alternative dispute resolution vehicles such as Pre-filing Agreements, the Compliance Assurance Process, Industry Issue Resolutions, Fast Track, Early Referral to Appeals, and Post-Appeals Mediation.
Liz is a former Associate Tax Legislative Counsel in the Treasury Department’s Office of Tax Policy and has previous Big Four, law firm, and in-house experience.

Admitted to the Bars of the District of Columbia, New York and Pennsylvania.
Admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
