Grant Thornton’s Neeta Daga and Joseph Donegan receive First Chair Awards for excellence in legal counsel

CHICAGO — Grant Thornton LLP has announced that two members of its Risk, Regulatory and Legal Affairs team, Neeta Daga and Joseph Donegan, received First Chair awards for excellence in legal counsel.

First Chair, an organization designed to bring together a community of accomplished attorneys in private practice with in-house counsel, hosts the First Chair Awards annually and asks private practice attorneys to nominate their in-house peers for a variety of honors such as top general counsel, top litigation counsel and more.

Daga, who serves as associate counsel, is a recipient of the 2018 Top Privacy Counsel award, and Donegan, who also serves as associate counsel, is a recipient of the 2018 Top Compliance Counsel award. Both Daga and Donegan were recognized for their efforts in managing transactions, litigation and regulatory matters involving Grant Thornton and counseling firm professionals on legal, compliance and risk management issues.

“Our legal team is responsible for navigating a wide range of complex legal and regulatory matters, which Neeta and Joe fully embrace,” said Ken Cunningham, chief legal officer of Grant Thornton LLP. “Their recognition by First Chair is a testament to their hard work, trusted counsel by their clients and significant contributions to the legal community.”

Daga previously worked at Drinker Biddle and Reath for five years before joining Grant Thornton in 2014. She received her juris doctor degree from Loyola University Chicago and her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Rochester.

Donegan worked at Sidley Austin LLP and Freeborn and Peters LLP prior to joining Grant Thornton in 2016. He received his juris doctor degree from Boston University and his bachelor’s degree in physics from Loyola University Chicago.
