Grant Thornton to help federal agencies turn resources into results using Microsoft technologies

WASHINGTON — Grant Thornton Public Sector has expanded its collaboration with Microsoft to help federal agencies use data more insightfully and achieve strategic outcomes, such as turning data into improved services for constituents.

As a national accounting and consulting firm, Grant Thornton brings its know-how transforming government agencies to the arrangement – a role that includes helping federal bodies meet their obligations under the president’s Management Agenda, as well as legislative requirements intended to improve government’s performance, efficiency and transparency. Microsoft brings its technologies for digital transformation.

The goal is to help government agencies extract value from data and improve operations like financial reporting, performance management, and internal controls and auditing. It will also help them manage and secure information technology and bring emerging technologies – such as artificial intelligence and blockchain – to government operations.

“Our collaboration with Microsoft will help turn check-box efforts into value-producing insights,” says Carlos Otal, national managing partner of Grant Thornton Public Sector. “Just look at compliance: It used to be the table stakes of governance; now federal departments can convert it to results.”

Otal concludes by saying that the relationship with Microsoft is part of Grant Thornton’s goal of taking government clients “from status quo to status go.”

“Our federal clients talk incessantly about the importance of speed to solve so many of their mission-based needs. Combining Microsoft’s portfolio of secure and innovative solutions across the new frontiers of AI, machine learning and big data with Grant Thornton’s proven reputation as a thought leader in driving insights through these new capabilities is truly exciting for our customers and us,” said Greg Myers, VP of Microsoft Federal.
