Grant Thornton names Georgene Britz as Houston Office Managing Partner

RFP
HOUSTON — Grant Thornton LLP has named Georgene Britz as office managing partner in Houston, effective today.

“Georgene has had an impressive career at Grant Thornton – one during which she has worked successfully across multiple industries, including financial services, hospitality, construction and healthcare,” said Wally Gruenes, Grant Thornton’s regional managing partner, Central region. “She brings remarkable leadership qualities and a great passion for recruiting young people to accounting. We know her industry acumen and significant experience in audit engagements will foster continued success for our clients.”

Assuming the role from Michael Bennett, who recently retired from Grant Thornton, Britz will focus on client service, growth and talent development in the fourth largest marketplace in the United States. During her time at the firm, Britz has assisted clients with M&A work, IPOs, equity security and debt offerings, and SEC filings. For the past three years, she also served as the firm’s Audit practice leader in Houston.

Britz received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where she currently serves as Accounting Advisory Board member. She is a certified public accountant (CPA) in Texas and member of the American Institute of CPAs. Additionally, she has served in various leadership roles for Women at Grant Thornton Houston, the firm’s employee resource group for women, since 2008..
