Jamie comments on how Treasury might approach their new mandate of challenging states' attempts to help their residents bypass the new federal limit on tax deductions.

Rick Strohmaier is a State and Local Tax (SALT) partner in Grant Thornton's Chicago office. He is the Midwest Market SALT Practice Leader with more than 14 years of experience. Rick has worked with retailers, law firms, service providers, manufacturers and distributors in both public and private sectors.

Rick specializes in state income and franchise taxes, sales and use taxes, property taxes, credits, unclaimed property.

Rick earned a bachelor of arts degree at Michigan State University and a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University. Rick is a certified public accountant and is a member of AICPA, the Illinois CPA Society, the Taxpayers Federation of Illinois and the Chicago Tax Club.
