State Tax Spotlight on Vito A. Cosmo Jr.

Vito CosmoVito Cosmo lists three great passions. He chose two of them: his family and state and local tax. But the third one — raising awareness and money for Parkinson’s disease — chose him.

In 2012 Cosmo, now 53, was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s. He maintains a full schedule as managing director for the SALT practice in Grant Thornton LLP’s Philadelphia office, but the disease has changed how he spends his time outside work. It has changed things for others at the firm, too.

Because of the way Cosmo has become a face of this disease, the entire firm is scheduled to be honored June 27 by the Parkinson Council for its ‘‘commitment to diversity and inclusion.’’
