Revising Your Speaker Program
Event Description
In the past three years, the regulatory and compliance environment for speaker programs has become stricter. In 2020, the Office of Inspector General (OIG) of the US Department of Health and Human Services put the industry on notice that paying healthcare providers (HCPs) to speak at company-sponsored events risks violating the federal antikickback statute, with clear risks if proper rules aren’t followed. With heightened government scrutiny on speaker programs, life sciences organizations need a sound framework that demonstrates they are following best practices and working to prevent fraud. Join us for a discussion of how to address regulatory requirements regarding the purpose, venue, speakers, and attendees in your program. We will also discuss speaker program deficiencies that we have identified for our clients and corresponding corrective measures our Grant Thornton team has designed and helped implement.
