It’s all about me at Grant Thornton
I didn’t think corporate America would be a place where I could spotlight two important roles in my life. I knew I’d be seen as a capable administrator. But I also see myself as an educator and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community. I expected that bringing all of my passions, roles and identities — personal and professional — to my work would surprise my coworkers. But it was Grant Thornton that ended up surprising me.
I’m applauded for being a passionate educator
At Grant Thornton, I’ve been empowered to educate others, implementing curriculum to onboard new employees and set them up for success in their careers. When my team expanded, I assessed employees and identified who’d benefit from coaching and mentoring. These experiences positioned me for my current role as the producer of our internal training webcasts — still pursuing my passion to educate.
“At Grant Thornton, I don’t have to compartmentalize Day Josh and Night Josh. It’s refreshing.”

I’m valued for all that I am
Grant Thornton recognizes not just my skills, but also my entire identity, which includes my expressive self and drag persona, P.H. Dee. One of my work highlights was hosting “Drag 101,” an educational broadcast — in full drag — for employees. A colleague and I shared the history of drag and its critical role within society and the LGBTQ+ movement. Our CEO spoke in support of expressiveness.
Our culture gives me a platform for expression
Leaders and colleagues are serious about uplifting underrepresented communities. Business resource groups — like mine, Equality GT for LGBTQ+ employees and allies — are actively supported. This year, our Pride Month kickoff is an event with P.H. Dee joined in drag by Nina West, an activist and former RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant. We’ll talk about what Pride means to us and how we live authentically in every space.
