Grant Thornton recruitment process

You have your resume ready to go. So what’s next? What should you expect to experience during the Grant Thornton interview process? Read on to find out.

We generally begin by gathering resumes from a variety of sources including at career fairs and through university career services centers and referrals.  Contact your university career center to learn more. Your resume and qualifications will then be reviewed by our recruiting team. Based on the hiring needs of Grant Thornton’s offices, applicants will be contacted to begin the interview process, which consists of three steps...

First round
A first-round 30 to 45 minute interview will be conducted (ideally face-to-face but in some cases via telephone). We make every effort to coordinate with each campus Career Services department to follow campus procedures and protocol.

The first interview will provide you with the opportunity to personally present your resume. This initial conversation allows us to get to know you, understand your objectives, and evaluate your qualifications. Based on mutual objectives, you may be invited to participate in the next step of the process. If so, we will schedule a second interview for you. If we feel your career objectives might be better served somewhere else, you will receive either written or verbal notice in a timely manner so that you can continue your search with other firms.

Second round
Your second interview will last for approximately 30 to 45 minutes. During this interview, you'll have the opportunity to share your experiences in a greater level of detail. You'll likely be asked a variety of questions (including questions about your educational background as well as personal, community and work-related information) as they would relate to your performance in your position at Grant Thornton.

You may be asked for specific examples of situations that you have encountered in your work or at school and how you handled them. The recruiters, partners and managers with whom you will be interviewing will also provide you with insight into their careers as well as answer any questions that you may have about the position. After the second interview, we will again evaluate your background and experiences and determine if an office visit is appropriate.

Office visit
The final step in the interview process consists of an office visit. During the office visit, you generally will meet with all levels of personnel, from associate to partner. The office visit provides you with the opportunity to hear firsthand about the Grant Thornton Experiences of the people you will meet with that day. Also, our staff will continue to ask questions to learn even more about your background, qualifications and interest in Grant Thornton. After the office visit, your recruiter will gather all of the feedback and make a final employment decision.

Throughout the process, recruiters will keep you informed of your status and are happy to answer any questions you may have. Please note that this process does vary slightly from region to region and office to office.
